Thank you to the Rowlett Chamber of Commerce for inviting me to speak on behalf of Texas Association of Business at your inaugural Economic Development Summit. I presented on the economic climate from a business perspective, covering top priorities from the past legislative session. HB 5 (the Jobs, Energy, Technology, and Innovation Act) was at the top of the list. It was great to hear from Angie Chen Button, who chairs the International Relations and Economic Development Committee and led on business endorsed workforce legislation like HB 1755. Thank you to Michael Gallops, IOM, TDM for your hospitality and for running a great chamber. Congrats on a great event. Looking forward to being back in Rowlett soon.

Thank you for the testimonial, Libbey! We definitely work hard to make each and every session of Leadership Rowlett beneficial to every participant but ultimately the participants are the ones who make each class truly great! Every class is unique, and they all think they are "the best class"! We are still taking applications for this year's class which is shaping up to be one of the very best! We're getting a new book for the book study; we have a new venue for the retreat and we're even revamping the orientation and reception! #LeadershipRowlett #RowlettChamber Rowlett Chamber Foundation

The training Michael received allows us to offer another benefit to our members and business community. Let us help you help with your workforce concerns with coaching on how to utilize skills- based hiring practices. #TeamRowlett #RowlettChamber #WorkforceDevelopment
Michael Gallops, IOM, TDM, President/CEO of the Rowlett Area Chamber & Visitors Center has completed a #SkillsBasedHiring training series with the ACCE Foundation. Skills-based hiring is a #TalentStrategy where companies focus on the #skills needed to succeed in open roles and reduce bias throughout the hiring process. During this training, participants learned how to incorporate a skills-based hiring approach, from identifying skills needed for open positions to coaching teams interested in implementing this strategy. “I learned so much during this training, including how to best help our employers focus on the skills they need rather than so-called pedigrees”, said Gallops, “Now I can partner with our employers and coach them to use skills-based hiring to fill their workforce gaps.” Thank you for taking the training with us, Michael! I can't wait to see where the Rowlett chamber takes this important work! Markle Foundation
